Introduction

Hiroshi Sakamoto respects the privacy of users of the app "kiroku" ("the App") and is committed to protecting personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled within the App.

Information We Handle

The App handles the following types of information:

  • User-entered data: Content such as diary text and photos. This data is stored only on your device and in your iCloud account and is never sent to our servers.
  • Photo-related data: With your permission, the App reads the capture date and save date of photos. This data is stored only on your device and in your iCloud account and is never sent to our servers.
  • Health data: With your permission, the App reads health information such as sleep data. This data is stored only on your device and in your iCloud account and is never sent to our servers.
  • Usage data via Google Analytics: The App uses Google Analytics to collect usage logs for the purpose of improving the service. These logs do not include personal information or any content entered by the user (diary text, photos, etc.).
  • Book search data: When you use the search feature for book records, the search terms you enter (title, author, or ISBN) are sent to an external service to retrieve book information. If your device region is Japan, they are sent through our server to the Rakuten Web Service operated by Rakuten Group, Inc.; in other regions, they are sent directly to the Google Books API operated by Google LLC. Search terms are not linked to your personal information or records and are not stored on our server (search results alone may be cached temporarily for up to 24 hours to speed up responses).

How We Use Information

Information collected is used solely for the following purposes:

  • Providing App functionality and improving the user experience
  • Storing and displaying records created by you
  • Syncing data across devices via iCloud

Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell, share, or rent your personal information to third parties, except in the following cases:

  • When required by law

Data Storage

App data is stored on your device and in Apple iCloud. We have no means of accessing this data. You are responsible for managing and deleting your own data.

Affiliate Program

The App participates in the Rakuten Affiliate program. The "View on Rakuten Books" link shown in book records is an affiliate link (advertisement), and we may receive a referral fee when a product is purchased through it. Information handling on the linked site is governed by the privacy policy of Rakuten Group, Inc.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as necessary. Any changes will take effect when posted on this page.
